Aluminum-Silicon (Al-Si) Micron powder General Description & Applications:
A grey powder composed of particles of aluminum-silicon alloy, with diameters measured in either a few microns or several um. While it doesn’t have the breadth of applications seen from other micron powders, it performs exceptionally well in certain roles due to its unique traits.
Repair work. Combined with other materials, aluminum-silicon allow powders can play a crucial role as part of a plasma-sprayed coating for worn mechanical devices. This produces a superior restoration and protective coating to other substances, including pure aluminum powder.
Lightweight material production. Aluminum-silicon alloy powders have seen great interest as a potential component in the production of lightweight materials, especially in industries such as automotives. While thorough research is still necessary before the material can become a core tool in such production, early probes have proved quite promising.
Catalyst support. Much like aluminum oxide, aluminum-silicon alloy powders can play a crucial role as a catalyst support for any number of industrial catalysts, with more being researched and uncovered as the material grows in popularity and interest.
